Happy Homeschooling
Our story
It all began with an idea and a dream to create wonderful stories. Tabitha began writing in 2009 shortly after her 3rd son was born. Little did she know, it would take 13 year to publish her work. As a busy mom of 4 children and the wife of a Marine, she found little time to dedicate to her creativity. Finally, in 2015 Tabitha quite her job with the public school system and began homeschooling her children. What a rewarding experience homeschooling can be. Through her journey she has learned that a passion filled education is the best education. Tabitha creates beautiful homeschool workbooks for kids who enjoy interest led learning and creativity. She also loves to create devotionals, coloring books, and more! Thank you for joining us here at Books & Whimsy.
What is Books & Whimsy: Down The Rabbit Hole Educational Publishing Co?
Down The Rabbit Hole Educational Publishing Co LLC was officially created in 2022, but the idea behind our company started many years ago. We are more than just a homeschool curriculum company. We believe that people learn best when immersed in their passions and interests. As a busy mom homeschooling elementary, middle and high-school aged children, I understand the broad picture of teaching at multiple levels and abilities. It can be overwhelming to say the least.
In the beginning, I wanted our homeschool journey to be beautiful and pinterest worthy. Lets be honest, that is not always the case… but it is full of grace, understanding, fun, laughter and a passion for learning. Isn’t that the whole point?
At B&W we rely on passions and interests to guide children and adults in their learning journey and we provide the tools. Yes, you heard that right, even adults can practice life long learning through B & W! Whether you are here for homeschool curriculum, devotionals, adult learning, art, or children’s books, you are in the right place. At B & W, we love to dive down rabbit holes at every age and ability.
As you browse our books, you will notice quite a few unique topics and interests...I think we are at nearly 200! Our company provides educational workbooks, coloring books and topics that can be hard to find for children. My kids love to explore interesting facts, topics and subjects that are normally found in college, so I created a way for them to start studying those interests at their grade level. Now, I want to be honest with you, our workbooks will not tell your children all of the information they need to know, they will need to find it. What does that mean, you ask? It means, kids will need to learn to research, to find the information they need. This is such an important part of independent learning. If we just serve them a platter of readings and questions, without the process of research, college and life will be much more difficult. So start now while your kids are young and excited to learn. Teach them how to find something in a dictionary, show them how to safely research topics online and give them the opportunity to thrive independently.
At B & W we encourage kids to major in their interests and go down rabbit holes. It creates retention of the information and allows kids to become an expert in their field of interest before they even head to college. Why not start that at a young age?
The key to a successful year with B & W is to embrace your passions, talents and interests and create a relaxing environment to learn about them.
With our curriculum, here is what you need: A few books that are relevant to your passions and interests, documentaries and educational videos that dive deeper, supplies for projects, and a new found reassurance that you are doing enough! Choose up to 8 topics of interest and dive in!
What that may look like: If you have an animal lover, let them choose workbooks that immerse them in all things animals. For instance, they may choose Exploring The World Of Dogs, All About Dogs Doodle Challenge, Dangerous Animals Of The World, Creative Writing in Nature, Film Study and Math Quest. You just checked off Art, History, Geography, Science, English and Math. With this selection, you can rotate subjects to give more time for deep dives or you can do each workbook daily for 20 minutes.
Maybe you have a child that loves flags, we have a workbook for that! Maybe you have a child that loves weapons and working with their hands, we have a workbook for that! Maybe you hvae a child that loves fashion…yep we have a workbook for that too! Be sure to use the search bar on our website and browse all of the fun workbooks we offer at B&W, and don’t forget to search for me on amazon. Some of our workbooks are only available there.
Our workbooks encourage independent learning, so when life gets hectic you don’t have to worry. Just select your workbooks for the day, the books that go along with that topic and dive in. Yes, it really can be that easy. Homeschool days don’t have to be difficult or time consuming. Just remember to breathe, take a walk in the garden, play quiet music in the background, get creative, bake something, read, and immerse yourself in a rich education. Homeschooling can be so beautiful if you remove the stress and expectation of being perfect and appreciate the small wins, the laughter, the relationship with your children and the coziness that comes from a cozy, relaxed homeschool.
